Mutt and Jeff meet in Damascus

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad (Mutt and Jeff) met yesterday in Damascus after Ahmadinadinnerjacket was rumored to have walked through a tunnel from Iran into Syrian territory. Jeff (Ahmadinejad) promised a 'hot summer.' So much for Mutt (Assad's) 'movements towards peace' that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud K. Olmert keeps dreaming about. So much too for the weapons smuggling to Hezbullah through Syria being about to stop.
"We hope that the hot weather of this summer will coincide with similar victories for the region's peoples, and with consequent defeat for the region's enemies," Ahmadinejad added, in an apparent reference to Israel.

...

"The enemies of the region should abandon plans to attack the interests of this region, or they would be burned by the wrath of the region's peoples," the hardline Iranian leader said at a joint press conference with Assad.
Among other things, the two discussed efforts to unite the 'Palestinians' and Assad supported Iran's development of nuclear weapons.
For those who don't understand the Mutt and Jeff analogy, here's a picture of a Mutt and Jeff comic and a brief summary of why this fits:
The strip was originally titled A. Mutt and appeared on the sports pages of the San Francisco Chronicle. Augustus Mutt was a tall, rangy racetrack character, but the strip was transformed when Mutt encountered the half-pint Jeff (an inmate of an insane asylum) on March 27, 1908. On June 7, 1908, the strip moved off the sports pages and into the Hearst-owned San Francisco Examiner where it was syndicated and became a national hit.
Seems to fit the two of them pretty well, doesn't it? We have to find something here to laugh about!
