Shock and awe, Israeli style: IDF destroys 40 smuggling tunnels in 4 minutes

The IAF showed off the Israeli version of shock and awe on Sunday afternoon, destroying 40 smuggling tunnels, which the Egyptians just couldn't seem to find, in 4 minutes.
IAF jets struck 40 smuggling tunnels connecting the Palestinian and Egyptian sides of Rafah, a Gaza Strip border town which has become a main entry point into Gaza of weapons, dynamite and other smuggled military equipment and consumer goods. According to reports, the bombing took a total of four minutes.

Also Sunday, IDF artillery batteries were deployed along the Gaza Strip border, indicating that the firepower used by the military in Operation Cast Lead so far might yet still be intensified in coming days.
Here's a report from Iran's Press TV. Could he be describing a bunker buster? Let's go to the videotape.

Note how he talks as if the tunnels were for food and medicine - and not for weapons.

Did you all catch the news about Jordan?

That calls for a song. I feel the earth move under my feet. Enjoy!

With all the violence in the world, the world is still obsessed with the Jews. The more things change...

Just the warm up now. The IAF can keep this up for weeks, just as the US did in the Gulf War. Pretty soon the MSM will get tired of showing the film of Gaza and it won't be news in the west.

Let the people of Gaza feel a few years of daily bombardment.

I hope the IDF won't be forced by incompetent civilian leadership to pull it's punches this time, like in 2006 and at other times. As Machiavelli wrote centuries ago, never do your enemy a small injury. I hope this time, the IDF is allowed to do a proper job on Hamas.

I'm an American old enough to remember when Israel had "the street cred", a really strong psychological deterrence on her enemies. I remember the Six Day War, when the Armies of Israel thrashed all her enemies; the Raid on Entebbe, when Israel sent a Commando task force into the heart of Africa-an incredible military feat to rescue Israelis; the 1982 Bekaa Valley Turkey Shoot, when the IAF demolished the Syrian AF. I remember reading of the years-long successful effort of the Mossad to eliminate all but one of the Munich Olympic Massacre terrorists (may the lone survivor join his comrades soon!)

Since then, various Israeli civilian political leaders (NOT the brave and skilled men and women of the IDF!) have by their ineptness, allowed Israeli military deterrence to be sadly degraded.

Besides safeguarding Israelis living in southern Israel, the IDF needs to again teach Israel's enemies to fear Israel. They need to know that if they attack Israel, if they murder Israelis, they can count on a certain, implacable and deadly Israeli response.

That's the true proportionate response and the only guarantee of the security of the Israeli people. To borrow from Cato, "Hamas delenda est!"
