Hope and change same, 'Palestinian' style

Suit-and-tie-clad 'Palestinian' Prime Minister Salam Fayyad spoke at al-Quds University on Monday night. But he turned out to be a cheap imitation of Binyamin Netanyahu and even of Barack Hussein Obama. Fayyad only presented one 'new idea,' and no, it wasn't recognizing Israel as a Jewish state or announcing a willingness to compromise on anything. Instead, Fayyad proposed that the 'Palestinians' not negotiate with Israel.
Palestinian Authority prime minister Salam Fayyad gave a speech Monday at the Al Quds University in Jerusalem. Fayyad's speech followed a policy speech given by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at Bar Ilan University.

Fayyad called for the creation of a PA-led Arab state “by the end of next year or within two years at most.”

In order to create a PA state, PA Arabs must unify, he said. He called on Arabs to create the institutions needed to run a state in order to win international support for their cause.

While he promoted the creation of a PA state, Fayyad ruled out talks with Israel toward that goal. The PA should not negotiate with Israel until Israel freezes all construction in Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria, he said.
That should be real 'constructive,' eh?

Hamas' response: "We still hate you anyway."

Hope and change same, 'Palestinian' style.

Heh.

Just as I expected: Fayyad is a cautious bureaucrat who wouldn't rock the boat because he values his life. And because rejectionism rules the Palestinian street, we're not going to see a resumption of peace talks any time soon. Sadat's "peace of the brave" will not be realized in our lifetime.

This is hilarious. What is Obama going to do, lean on Israel some more, because the 'palis' don't want to talk?

No, he will, but now Netanyahu can point to this and say, "you want me to give concessions to people who don't even want to talk to us? Why should I? What will it accomplish? How much closer to agreement can we get by the concessions, if they are unwilling to talk to us to agree to anything?"

The 'palis' just sunk negotiations. They are now done.

Good job Barry, good job.

Chalk this up to yet another failed policy initiative. Carters policies didn't work when they were first conceived and implemented, they won't now. Their fundamental premise is fatally flawed.

Israel should freeze building right after the palestinians freeze building.

Carl, what prevents the Palestinians from just declaring the state of Palestine today? Even if they claimed all of the West Bank and Gaza, Israel wouldn't recognize them, but most of the world would. Why do they keep waving statehood as an empty threat?
