Oops! Did I say that?

For those of you who live in Florida, this story ought to show you that your Congressman is so busy shilling for Barack Obama that he doesn't even think through his positions.

The Weekly Standard reports (Hat Tip: Danny A) that Wexler told Greg Sargent that when his master said in Cairo on Thursday that "America will align our policies with those who pursue peace, and we will say in public what we say in private to Israelis and Palestinians and Arabs,” he meant that "it is no longer acceptable to say in private, `Go Israelis, take on Hezbollah,’ or `Go Israelis, take on Iran.”
In other words, Wexler was pleased that Obama would no longer privately support Israeli military operations against terrorist organizations.
As you might imagine, Wexler's Israel-supporting constituents in Florida would not be pleased to hear that their Congressman will no longer privately support Israeli military operations against terror groups. And so, chameleon-like, in a matter of hours, Wexler has changed his position clarified his comments.
Wexler just called to say that this isn’t what he meant to say. He says he thought that Obama was saying it would no longer be acceptable for Arab states to tacitly signal support for Israeli military actions while saying something else publicly. He says he didn’t realize Obama was referring to America saying the same thing privately as it says publicly.
Huh? "We will say in public" sounds pretty clear to me.

I guess that in the Obama administration, it's kind of hard to keep up with the positions you're supposed to take unless you walk around with a teleprompter all the time.

Anyone want to run against Wexler in 2010?

Heh.

The Obama Administration's left hand doesn't know what its right hand is doing. Its called being nuanced.

Barry Rubin isn't as kind on Obama's Cairo flattery.

Is Wexler THAT polished?

Did anyone notice that Obama apparently doesn't consider "Palestinians" to be Arabs? His quote singles them out: "...Israelis, Palestinians, and Arabs."

Wexler ought to be vulnerable.

To me, it isn't that the Obamites don't think about what they say, its that they choose not to think at all. They are so enamored of Obama and so utterly convinced of his infallibility that they've just situated themselves behind him expecting to be swept into the future right along with him. Wexler's constituents should stop paying taxes since he has stopped representing them.
