'The most densely populated area in the world'?

It is constantly claimed that Gaza is 'the most' or 'one of the most' densely populated areas in the world. Well, here's yet another area that's more densely populated: Tel Aviv.
Israel's total population is about 7.4 million and its total population density is 316 people per square kilometer, according to the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics. However, large areas of Israel, such as the Negev desert, are unpopulated or sparsely populated, while others, such as Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa, have population densities of more than 1000 people per square kilometer. The Tel Aviv district has a population density of about 7073 people per square kilometer.

By contrast, the total population in the Palestinian Territories is 3.9 million, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics. About 2.4 million live in the West Bank and, of these, about half a million live in the densely populated city of Hebron. Overall population density, including all people and land mass, is 427 people per square kilometer in the West Bank and 4,010 people per square kilometer in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics.
And that's without taking into account that the 'Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics' has been known to overstate the 'Palestinian' population.

Funny, I can't recall the last suicide bomber who lived or grew up in Tel Aviv.

Keep that one in your files for the next time someone throws you the meme about how Gaza is 'the most densely populated area' in the world.

By the way, the picture at the top is a Gaza City coffee shop with a little TV set. Impoverished? It sure doesn't look like it.

A lot of people live cheek to jowl in Hong Kong and Manhattan - and you don't see them being raised on a legacy of hate and terror. Gaza could be the Palestinian Hong Kong. But that's not what its rulers want.

The Beach Refugee camp in Gaza has a population density of 80,000 people per square kilometer, over three times greater than Manhatten. While Gaza may not be the most densely populated place on earth, parts of it may.

Perhaps Gaza could be a Hong Kong if they were allowed to let out exports and to let in imports. Sadly, they have been limited to the bare minimum necessary to keep them alive.

Perhaps their high levels of hatred can be explained by the fact that a strong majority of the population are the descendants of the ethnic cleansing of 1948. Once that happened, Gaza has lacked the hinterland to sustain its population, a deep sea port to sustain serious trade, and the maritime background to make this vision come alive.

www.reframeamerica.om,

The population density of Gaza is 9,713 per square mile - far less than Macau, Gibraltar, Singapore or Hong Kong.

It is nowhere near 80,000 per square kilometer.

Read a little closer.

The claim about pop density of 80,000 psm was for "The Beach Refugee camp in Gaza" not for Gaza City or the whole Gaza strip.
