Bloodthirsty? Me? Russia Today thinks so

I was interviewed last Thursday by Russia Today, an English language television station, about a poll whose results I posted on this blog last month. It was actually the second time I was interviewed - the first time the interview didn't come out. What you will see in the video is only a short part of what I said - they did not use my references to the Goldstone Report. And I would gladly debate Inna Michaeli (who is not representative of most Israelis) anytime or anywhere.

By the way, I was NOT interviewed by Paula Slier - they have another reporter here who interviewed me who does not appear in the video.

I'm kind of surprised to see that it already has over 3800 views (and over 300 comments) just a day after it went up.

Let's go to the videotape (Hat Tip: Marzutra).

In case you're wondering: What I said about Goldstone was that after we were condemned (using lies about a massacre) for how the IDF handled Jenin, and after we got the Goldstone Report for trying to avoid civilian casualties in Gaza, many Israelis are convinced that we will be condemned no matter how we fight our battles with the 'Palestinians,' and therefore we should worry less about collateral damage to civilians (I would never condone targeting civilians and the IDF does not do that) and more about doing the job thoroughly.

If you don't understand the title of this post, look at the title that Russia Today gave to the video.

Wake me up when the Russians leave Chechnya.

Also wake me up when we manage to get anywhere near as blood-thirsty as the Russians.

Hypocrites.

One cannot watch this video and fail to see that there is no limit to the venal careerism of people like this toad from "Women for Peace". I wrote about Amira Hass as the Queen of the Toads three years ago http://breathofthebeast.blogspot.com/2007/05/queen-of-toads.html and the same things I said about her apply double here. When perverting liberal democratic ideals, obscuring truth, and betraying your own people become a way of making a living and receiving public acclaim, the toads triumph.

Who is blood-thirsty? I would say that those toads who work to prevent Israel from asserting her power advantage to secure her own people and survival while she still has it are the ones who soak the land with blood.

HAHAHAHA.... 'this environment is not created in a vacuum, it is constructed in a very concrete reality created by a media that -- except for a small minority of journalists -- is not very democratic and is highly nationalistic".... oy vey.

Inna Michaeli must live in a parallel universe. Israel has few choices when confronted with a militant Hamas government whose stated goals include the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews. She seems to blame the entire conflict on Israel. What a jerk!!

"Professional Right Wing Israeli Blogger" Heh?

Professional - in quality of the blog, absolutely, in compensation, well, not so much.

Right Wing - perhaps the caption writer hasn't been to Sederot or during the attacks in the north, in Haifa.

Blogger - indeed, the best!

BTW, did she really say that war is inevitable because "...military action by our government goes unpunished."?

If all military action goes unpunished, who punishes the punishers? This is nothing less than the quintessential leftist yearning for totalitarianism.

This Michaeli person is utterly pathetic. I googled her (in Russian) - what a hodge-podge of stuff and noncense! Name a conventional left-wing ideology under the sun and she is a supporter... All this talk about peace - and in the same sentence all this struggle. If only peole like her stop struggling so hard and try opening her eyes... She reminds me of an old Russian joke - how we'll have such a struggle for peace that there will be not a single building left standing...
How sad!

Yaacov, your comparison of Michaeli to a toad is highly offensive. Toads are harmless amphibians who eat pests, and whose eyes were compared by Shakespeare to a precious jewel.

Michaeli is much more like a malarial mosquito, a deadly, soulless parasite who needs to be bloodily squashed.
