I know: Let's pretend the scuds weren't transferred to Hezbullah

In an attempt to save its bid to return an ambassador to Damascus, an Obama administration official told Reuters on Friday night that the administration is 'unsure' whether long-range scud missiles were transferred by Syria to Hezbullah or 'only' missile parts.
The United States believes that Syria intended to transfer long-range missiles to Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas but there are doubts about whether the Scuds were delivered in full and whether they were moved to Lebanon, U.S. officials said on Friday.

The alleged deal to transfer the Scud missiles to Hezbollah has fueled cross-border tensions with Israel and could cast doubt on U.S. President Barack Obama's diplomatic outreach to Syria.

"We think the intent is there," a senior U.S. official said of Syria transferring the missiles to Hezbollah, a Iranian- and Syrian-backed Islamist group that fought a war with Israel in 2006.

But the senior official and two others briefed on the case said it was unclear whether the missiles, which could hit deep inside Israel, were actually handed over in full to the guerrilla group. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

"We believe a transfer of some kind occurred but it is unclear if the rockets themselves have changed hands," the senior official said.

A partial transfer could involve weapons parts, documents or funding, other officials said.

Another official said doubts were growing that Syria had delivered the Scuds in full and allowed them to transit to Lebanese territory: "We don't believe it happened."

...

"It's unclear at this point that a transfer has occurred ... and the United States has no indications that the rockets have moved across the border," a third U.S. official said.
Maybe they transferred their grandmothers too while they were at it.

I don't buy this story. Not for a minute.

More holes then swiss cheese.

It is exactly the "let's pretend the scuds weren't transferred to Hezbullah" so pervasive throughout Washington for a very long time. Now the lies must continue especially seeing Obama is hell bent on seating an Ambassador in Damascus. Yes, at the US embassy in the capital of Syria. Oh I forgot, Israel is lower then scum obviously because if a terrorist state incubator to terrorism has a US embassy in their capital city and Israel does not, what little message has that sent out? But hey, if our friends in high places don't care, cut us off at the knees we must indeed be undeserving scum Jews, Christ killers without a capital. It is all about who sleeps with who and who deceives us..

Syria laughs. They all do. They have been laughing for so many years their stomachs are ready to explode!

As for the lie with more holes then swiss cheese in order to seat that Ambassador, I wonder who covered for Syria at the start of the Iraq war when miles long convoys made their way across Iraq into Syria? Caught on camera but not a word after.

The Administration is keeping quiet on a blatant Syrian violation of the 2006 ceasefire. That's another promise broken to Israel.

And it has the nerve to lecture to Israel to be "sincere" about its commitments while flouting its own! Such a limp-wristed response does not inspire confidence in America's willingness to stand up for its allies and make sure rogue regimes are held accountable.

"Let's Pretend" has become the essence of the Administration's Middle East policy towards Damascus and Tehran. Its scary.
