Helen Thomas: 'Jews get the hell out of Palestine'

Video surfaced on Friday of Senior White House correspondent Helen Thomas calling for Jews to 'get the hell out of Palestine' and return to Germany and Poland.

Let's go to the videotape (Hat Tip: Lance K).

Former Bush press secretary Ari Fleisher has called on Hearst Newspapers (Thomas' employer) to fire Thomas (Hat Tip: Memeorandum).
But even as she was trying to walk back the remarks, calls for her firing mounted. Among the more vocal was former Bush Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, who claimed to have a close relationship with Thomas when he was manning the daily briefings.

"She should lose her job over this," Fleischer said in an email. "As someone who is Jewish, and as someone who worked with her and used to like her, I find this appalling."

"She is advocating religious cleansing. How can Hearst stand by her? If a journalist, or a columnist, said the same thing about blacks or Hispanics, they would already have lost their jobs."
Representative Michele Backmann (R-Minn) has also called for Thomas to be fired.
Once again the liberal media has shown its true colors! The White House media dinosaur, also known as Helen Thomas has called on Jews to leave Israel and move back to Poland and Germany. This anti-Semitic sentiment has no place in our public discourse. I call upon her employer, Heart Corporation to dismiss her at once! The White House needs to revoke her press credentials immediately.

Her apology is not sufficient, considering her many previous negative sentiments against Israel. Her language is offensive, vulgar and intolerant.
Thomas issued an apology on Friday night, some ten days after the comments were made (on May 27 at an event for Jewish Heritage Month(!) at the White House).

Sorry - it's not enough. Thomas must go.

Hi Carl.
I agree ,when i saw this the first time i was shocked. But on the other hand it reflect the whole attitude for the moment towards Israel. It must be the air in Washington D.C.?I wonder what the White house their reaction would have been in 1946?

I was outraged by this. Helen Thomas is an unrepentant anti-semite. Her dissimulating retraction was almost certainly written by others for her and placed on her site to deflect criticism.

Yes Hearst, she must go. Not quietly, not at midnight. She must be publicly fired. No "news" organization can tolerate such blatant overt antisemitism and continue to call itself a news organization. None can abide these abhorrent statements. None can defend the indefensible.

So make her go, now, while you still have any shred of decency. Or do we have to start referring to Hearst as the ASN, or the AntiSemite Network?

Agreed. Someone like her is the epitome of pure ugliness. But then again, the Flotilla Of Nazis crew told the Israeli Navy the Jews should go back to Auschwitz. Why the hell the Stupid Jews didn't sink their fleet, I'll never understand. I would have sent the message that the likes of those who hate Jews should get one reception - and its not a welcoming one at Ashdod.

forget the fact that she is a jew hater...i dont want her terminated for that reason

pat buchanan is a jew hater, and the people you quote from (bachman is a nutjob...please dont refer to her again) have never called for his ouster from any of the news channels.

the problem is that this supposedly intellegent, learned woman...is ignorant

if she isnt ignorant, then she is stupid

she doesnt know the makeup of the countries of origin of israelis...doesnt know the history of the land...doesnt know her own family's history...and doesnt care to know

but she has my blessing to return to the land of her fathers...any time she wants
