J Street hearings a legitimate exercise of Knesset authority

The Forward thinks it has hit on something with the results of a poll that show that only 14% of Jewish Israelis have heard of J Street.
In the three years since its founding, the dovish lobby J Street has become a household name across Jewish America. But ask Israelis about it, and they are more likely to think you are asking for directions to some thoroughfare they haven’t heard of.

In polling commissioned by the Forward, only 14% of Jewish Israelis said they had heard of J Street. The remaining 86% had not.

The results call into question the stated rationale of politicians who initiated and supported a March 23 Knesset hearing to probe J Street’s activities and ideology. They claimed that public concern necessitated the hearing — especially since January, when the American group urged President Obama not to veto a United Nations resolution condemning Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank.

“Most of the people think like me about J Street,” said Kadima lawmaker Otniel Schneller, who first raised the idea of a Knesset hearing on the group in the hope of proving his belief that it is “not pro-Israel.”
I would bet that among English-speaking Jewish Israelis, the percentage of Israelis who have heard of J Street is much higher, but in a word, so what? It's the Knesset's job to be out front in fighting organizations that would undermine our existence whether or not Jewish Israelis have ever heard of them.

By pressuring the Obama administration not to veto the Security Council resolution that would have condemned the 'settlements' last month, J Street has proven that it is willing to sacrifice the State of Israel on the altar of liberalism. To the extent that their Buddhist-seder-making membership is even Jewish, they are a fifth column within the Jewish community that is undermining our existence. The Jewish community - including Jewish Israelis - is entitled to be warned.

I think it's most important that Israelis know what J-Street is, What the New Israel Fund is, that they know that Ha'aretz is an enemy of the state, that Oslo is a sham, that the Arabs are not interested in Israel's ever surviving, that Israel's political, judicial, police and military organizations are corrupt, morally bankrupt and centered on whatever is best for their top players.

Stupid Jews. We've been stupid for so long. When will we all wise up?!

Shy Guy, not all of them.

The Tunisian Jews according to Haaretz in Hebrew, are coming home to Israel.

They have decided not to sit around and wait to find out what the Islamists could do to them.

Smart Jews! Some of them are waking up.
