Russian billionaire founding Jewish al-Jazeera

Russian billionaire Alexander Mashevich says that he intends to found a 'Jewish al-Jazeera.'
"Every day and every hour people get negative information about Israel," Mashkevich said at the Keren Hayesod - United Israel Appeal conference in Washington D.C. "Therefore, the most important thing is to represent Israel on an international level, with real information."

Mashkevich plans to found an international, professional news station as a response to unreliable reports on Israel. He says the station will not be a source of propaganda, but will tell the truth.

"I think this idea should be implemented. I already spoke about it several years ago with Israeli government officials and with influential people in the Jewish world, and everyone agrees that such a channel is necessary," he said.
I'm all in favor so long as we can keep the Leftists out of the newsroom. The last thing we need is a Jewish station that's as critical of Israel as al-Jazeera is.

I wonder if we can apply for a job there? Or do you figure they'll staff up with the usual cast of East and West coast U.S. lefties?

Carl - that's why it should be privately financed.

If the Israeli government is involved, balance will be demanded.

Its the last thing Israel needs.

NormanF - Let's hope Carl I. Jerusalem keeps IsraelMatzav going as an independent voice (as opposed to balanced/equivalenced)... Every angle shows up, but with common sense as the guide.
