School trips canceled over terror warning on Egyptian border

After last summer, they're not taking any chances. The Education Ministry has barred all school trips to the southernmost parts of Israel due to terror warnings.
The highly unusual move stems from security concerns following IDF intelligence assessments indicating an imminent threat of terror south of the Netafim crossing, south of Highway 12 and near Eilat.

Eilat itself does not fall under the advisory's guidelines, the Education Ministry's situation room said.

School trips that were planned for Monday and the rest of the week have been canceled or rerouted to other part of Israel.

The defense establishment warned of an imminent threat of terror in the area on Sunday.

As part of the precautionary measures taken by the defense establishment, work on the Israel-Egypt border fence has been temporarily suspended.
I don't get this. We're suspending work on the border fence - which is supposed to prevent terror attacks - out of fear of terror attacks? Something is very strange here.
