Machpeila House residents to be expelled?

I'm going to be out at 3:00, so I won't be able to liveblog this, but the Defense Ministry has given the Jews living in Machpeila House - which overlooks the Machpeila Cave parking lot - until 3:00 pm to prove their ownership of the house, or the army will expel them.

This is despite a request from Prime Minister Netanyahu to delay the expulsion until after Pesach (Passover) in order to give the residents time to prove their ownership.

The Mayor of Hebron claims that the purchase documents are forged because - get this - the 'Palestinian Authority' had already arrested the previous owner and the 'Palestinian' who acted as a 'straw man' for the Jewish residents before they entered the abandoned house!

A spokesman for the residents (I'd like to say Shlomo Levinger, but I might be wrong) told Israel Radio's mid-day news magazine that the residents have already proven title and that the eviction order is based solely upon 'endangering security.' The spokesman argued that having the previously abandoned house in Jewish hands would only increase security, because the house overlooks the central parking lot for the Machpeila Cave.

One of the spokesman for the residents quipped to Israel Radio that if IDF soldiers are actually sent in to expel the residents from the house, they should be given t-shirts of Defense Minister Ehud Barak's Atzmaut (Independence) party, since expelling the Jews would serve solely to endear that party in the eyes of Leftist voters.

May the houses of those in power, who are responsible for any evictions of Jews in Hevron, fall on their heads.

This is yet another perfect opportunity to put together the Western-style title search GIS layers... there is apparently a low cost system for ipads that would keep at least out of pocket costs down (although manhours will be substantial to collect lot by lot data, by year, with scanned documents, history, etc. links, and compile it into a single URL link for the world to view). Now, what the IDF decides to do in relation to security is a possibly separate matter and you just know I cannot stand it when people fight the police in our free countries. But if it turns out that your Left is promoting dictatorships in Israel (and the U.S.?) to get their own way even if laws of ownership get in their way, then they (the Left) need to be shown for what they are.
