I am an Orthodox Jew - some would even call me 'ultra-Orthodox.' Born in Boston, I was a corporate and securities attorney in New York City for seven years before making aliya to Israel in 1991 (I don't look it but I really am that old :-). I have been happily married to the same woman for thirty-five years, and we have eight children (bli ayin hara) ranging in age from 13 to 33 years and nine grandchildren. Excellent. Another answer to that last question about children:
"Israel protects civilians, including Israeli kids, by paying to construct bomb shelters and safe rooms for them. Sometimes Israelis don't make it to the shelters in time and get killed or maimed. Or they are on a bus that terrorists blow up... many many Israeli children have been killed and maimed by suicide bombers, gunmen, and rockets. The question for Gaza is, now that all Israelis have been completely out of Gaza for more than 7 years, how can you care so little about your children that you would shoot rockets from among them and provide no shelter for them when Israel is obliged to stop your people shooting rockets onto our civilians?
