Egypt to Obama: Take your aid money and stick it where the sun don't shine

The United States announced this week that it is withholding some aid money from Egypt. But what if Egypt just tells them to stick the aid money where the sun don't shine? That's what's happening, and it's another epic failure for the Obama administration.
Most worrying for the United States is the possibility that the Egyptian army -- the largest in the Arab world -- will turn to a rival country for aid after decades of close ties to Washington.
The United States has long provided Egypt with about $1.55 billion in annual aid, including $1.3 billion for the military.
Military officials told Reuters that the country's generals have grown mistrustful of the United States throughout the political crisis that erupted after Morsi's overthrow.
They were infuriated from early on when the United States began hinting that action could be taken to demonstrate Washington's displeasure at Morsi's removal. Military officials said they were not surprised by the reduction in aid.
"There is a saying among us that 'whoever is covered by the Americans is in fact naked'," one military source said.
"Americans shift their positions based on their interests and don't have principles. But we also know that whatever they say or hint they would do, in the end they will not want to lose Egypt."
Egypt's army is exploring its options. "The military definitely has plans to diversify its source of weapons which include going to Russia," said the military source, who did not elaborate.
El Watan newspaper, which is close to the army, quoted a military source as saying that Egypt will soon announce deals for arms from "new markets other than America" which are of the same standard as ones from the United States.
American efforts to sell democracy in Egypt and return the Brotherhood to politics have deepened long-standing mistrust of the United States.
Read  the whole thing.

Obama's backing of the Muslim Brotherhood could destroy American interests in the Arab world for generations. What could go wrong?

Hard to tell how long Obama's MB advocacy will hurt US interests in the ME. Because everywhere I lived growing up as a US military brat, there were people from Egypt, Jordan, and all manner of friendly or potentially friendly foreign military people training with US people. Decades worth. Same programs, sometimes families were there and made friends... my impression is that that interaction may be turning out to be way more of a cultural outreach program then the marxist indoctrination offered to foreign students at US universities, etc. I would imagine that if the US can get Obama out before he and Hillary2016 get a chance to declare marshall law in the US, these connections will withstand the process.

What will actually change the US method of operating (and probably the approach from the ME folks) will be, for example, Midland, TX, a Fracking BOOM Town that foretells America's rehab. The US won't actually NEED ME oil, and conceivably, the US, along with other friendly frackers, will be able to take pressure off of the Euros in buying energy from people who want to rule them, overrun them, slaughter them. That will be a new dawn. BTW, I know the Leftists want to think Americans are looking for empire, but I promise you, the problem will be keeping the US engaged, once they don't need anything from you. I think a two way friendship will be the key.

This line is excellent and Israelis should adopt it.

Chavi, given the Israeli govt's role, along with US thug unions, etc. in getting a MB activist elected (twice, thanks to lawless rotted voter rolls, etc.)... well, change "Americans" to "Obama Posse." Then come talk to the parents, spouses, etc. who have had their family members over in Israel's neighborhood going up against a wide range of killers... and tell them that you will stop your start-up govt from swilling $bils of Green/Data $lu$h and giving aid and comfort from the Progressive Dems. These current Dems (not your mother's Dems), as the Egyptian general points out from his own perspective, are undoing everything the US military, etc. accomplished in the ME, Asia, Africa, etc. over the past decade. Christians are being slaughtered in any number of countries, to the sounds of silence. This change in "interests" is Obama's and Huma's angle, not America's.
